The Warwickshire Committee

The History of the Warwickshire Committee

The Warwickshire Committee was formed in late 1994 after Clive Stone (past Chairman and Trustee of Fight for Sight) and Debbie White (Warwickshire Committee Vice President) met on a golfing holiday. In 1995 the first Fight for Sight Golf Challenge at Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club was held. In 2013 Francesca Marchetti joined the committee as Optical Lead. She has a keen interest in Fight For Sight as she saw her Mother become partially sighted due to AMD.

Over the years an incredible £350,000 has been raised through the Golf Day and many other events. Clive Stone sailed across the Atlantic in 2003 raising an amazing £27,000 and Debbie White gathered a few of her friends together to do a skydive for her 50th raising £7,150. In 2014 Debbie set herself a Quest to raise £20K in 12 months, one of the main activities was Bike for Sight Warwickshire which was attended by an Irish Paralympian tandem cyclist who has the same eye condition as Debbie - Retinitis Pigmentosa. In 2018 Debbie decided to take on another skydive, recruiting 20 people to take part in 'Skydive for Sight' - and raising over £15,000.

25th Annual Warwickshire Golf Day

On 3 July 2019 the 25th Golf Day will take place. The Committee are working hard to beat their best total of £19,000 with a target of £20,000.  They are on the hunt for golfers and sponsors to help fund vital research.

The Golf Day attracts over 30 corporate and private teams who enjoy 18 holes of golf, followed by a three-course meal. After the auction takes place, the Committee present all the prizes and the finale is the Star Prize Draw which usually raises over £1,200.

£70 per player (teams of 4 £280) for 18 holes and 3 course dinner.
