Fight for Sight Early Career Investigator Award

Applications are invited for an Early Career Investigator Award of up to £200,000 for three years to start in October 2012. This funding scheme is open to all early career researchers with a PhD and at least three years post-doctoral research experience at the time of application. The applicants should have a solid track record in a relevant disease area and intend to make a long term commitment to vision research.

This award is not available to individuals who hold an academic position, either short or long term, at the time of application. Applicants should also not be a named principal investigator on a research grant awarded by any funding body. Candidates should submit their own application for funding of their own salary to enable them to undertake an independent project in the field of vision research.

Awards are made on a fully competitive and peer reviewed basis allowing a rigorous, fair and transparent selection process. In 2011 Fight for Sight awarded 2 Early Career Investigator Awards out of 6 full applications received.

Fight for Sight is a member of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) and complies with its guidelines for best practice.  Fight for Sight passed the AMRC’s 2011 Peer Review Audit.
