Fight for Sight Early Career Investigator Award

Applications are invited for an Early Career Investigator Award of up to £200,000 for three years to start in October 2011. This funding scheme is open to all early career researchers with a PhD and at least three years post-doctoral research experience at the time of application. The applicants should have a solid track record in a relevant disease area and intend to make a long term commitment to vision research and they should not be a named principal investigator on a research grant awarded by any funding body.

Candidates should submit their own application for funding of their own salary to enable them to undertake an independent project in the field of vision research. This award is not available to individuals who hold an academic position, either short or long term, at the time of application.

Applicants will need to identify an academic staff member at a UK university or institution to act as their mentor and to ensure adequate provision of research facilities within the host institution for the tenure of the award.
