Applications for grant funding are being sought from trainee ophthalmologists by Fight for Sight and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. The Ophthalmology Trainee Research Network Awards, which offer grants of up to £5,000, support studies with a clear patient benefit.

These awards are funded by Fight for Sight and supported by The Royal College of Ophthalmologists. They are designed specifically for trainee ophthalmologists to instigate an NHS-delivered clinical research study.

Fight for Sight are calling for applications from trainee ophthalmologists who are:
· in training in an NHS Acute Trust that delivers eye care services;
· a member of The Royal College of Ophthalmologists;
· have initiated or co-initiated the study with other trainee ophthalmologists;
· the Chief Investigator of the study.

The studies in receipt this funding will also become part of the National Institute for Health Research Clinical Research Network (CRN) portfolio of studies. This means they will be eligible for consideration for support from the CRN in England or similar support structures in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The call will open on 29 January 2018 and close on 27 March 2018. All applications must be submitted via the Fight for Sight online system. For more information, please email: grants@fightforsight.org.uk
