Dr Andrew Bastawrous has won the Clearly Lifetime Achievement Award to recognise his extraordinary contribution to the field of global eye health. Dr Bastawrous is the founder of Peek – the Portable Eye Examination Kit – which was developed with part-funding from Fight for Sight.

Peek is a smartphone-based system for performing comprehensive eye tests anywhere in the world. It is particularly well-suited to bringing high-quality eye care to remote regions in low-income countries.

The award is part of a campaign called Clearly, which was set up by Hong Kong-based businessman James Chen.
