Christmas comes early in Wiltshire!
12 October 2009
A fair attended by over 300 people raised £2,000 for world-class research into eye disease.
The Fight for Sight Wiltshire Committee’s annual fair this year was again held at Rye Hill Farm, Longbridge Deverill, thanks to the kindness of Julian Algar who lent his barn for an early festive event to help raise funds for vital research into blindness and eye disease.
The fair, which raised £2,000 for Fight for Sight, was attended by over 300 people on a lovely autumn day in the perfect setting of the beautifully decorated barn. The stalls provided an excellent array of goods so that people could make an early start on their Christmas shopping, including a stall selling Fight for Sight’s own Christmas cards. Refreshments were provided by Sandi Parish who offered delicious cakes, coffee and lunches for people taking a break from their shopping.
Annu Mayor, Fight for Sight’s Director of Fundraising, said: “We are so grateful to the Wiltshire Committee, led by Caroline Dunseath, and to her husband Paddy and the very many other people who worked so hard to make the day a great success. As an organisation dependent entirely on voluntary contributions, events such as this are of vital importance to us as we raise funds for world-class research into eye disease at centres of excellence around the UK.”
