Fight for Sight Runners in London’s Music Half-Marathon
27 September 2009
In brilliant sunshine on Sunday, 22 runners participating to raise funds for Fight for Sight ran in the Sony Ericsson Run to the Beat, London’s music half-marathon.
Over 9,000 runners participated in the race, which starts and finishes at the O2 Arena at Greenwich. Between them, the Fight for Sight runners have so far raised £6,000 that will be used to fund vital eye research.
Tony Hardy, who works for Wilby and Burnett in Saffron Walden, and ran for Fight for Sight said: “I really enjoyed taking part in Run to the Beat and I was very pleased with my own time, particularly since I hadn’t had much time for training in advance. It’s a great day out for everyone and a wonderful way to raise funds for worthwhile causes like Fight for Sight.”
Annu Mayor said: “We are so grateful to Tony and all our runners for their commitment and energy in taking part in Run to the Beat, and also to their sponsors whose generous contributions will help us to fund further research into eye conditions for which there is currently no effective treatment. A big thank you to everyone involved!”
Fight for Sight is the UK’s leading charity dedicated to research into blindness and eye disease.
