Executive Team
Chief Executive: Michele Acton
Michele Acton gained an MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University. She then spent 15 years working as an investment banker in London advising companies on raising finance and mergers and acquisitions. In 2004 she became the Chief Executive of UCL Hospitals Charitable Foundation taking day-to-day responsibility for all aspects of the charity. Michele became Chief Executive of Fight for Sight in November 2006.
Director of Fundraising: Annu Mayor
Annu Mayor has been Director of Fundraising at Fight for Sight since September 2002 and has successfully led the charity through some major changes. This period included the merger with the British Eye Research Foundation in 2005 and the recent re-branding of the charity. Annu has over 12 years' experience working in the not-for-profit sector. She previously worked at Breakthrough Breast Cancer where she helped to launch the first ever Fashion Targets Breast Cancer campaign, at Amnesty International and SANE.
Director of Development: Robert Carter
Robert Carter has held a variety of fundraising, business development and marketing positions over the last 10 years. He has worked for the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce, the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the Department for Education and Skills and the Institute of Physics. Before joining Fight for Sight as Director of Development in June 2010, Robert spent four years as Fundraising Manager at the youth volunteering charity v, where he helped to raise £52 million from companies, trusts and individuals as part of the v Match Fund programme.
Head of Finance: Kalok Bonar
Kalok Bonar gained a BSC (Hons) in Business Computing Systems at The City University and subsequently qualified with the ACCA. Kalok has over 17 years of finance experience in the commercial sector, mostly working in large international organisations. She has worked in Europe, the USA and Asia. Kalok became Head of Finance for Fight for Sight in November 2007.
Research Officer: Dolores M Conroy
Dolores M Conroy PhD received her postdoctoral degree in Pharmacology from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, London, in 1991. Following a postdoctoral training at the University of Sherbrooke, Canada, she joined Imperial College London in 1995 as a researcher in respiratory disease mechanisms. In 2004 Dolores took up a position of Principal Scientist at Mercia Pharma Inc, a small US biotech company, developing vaccines for chronic diseases. In June 2008 Dolores joined Fight for Sight as a Research Officer.
