John LeePrimer Fellowships – Launched  20 August 2019

The fellowship offers £60,000 over a 12 month period to early stage ophthalmologists undertaking ground-breaking vision research and represents the first step for ophthalmologists to obtain a PhD. The scheme is run in partnership with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. Applicants must be a member of the College.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Thursday 7 November 2019. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed on Tuesday 4 February 2020.


Small Grants– Next deadline 31 December 2019

The Small Grants scheme  is open all year. The scheme offers up to £15,000 for projects up to 12 months. These awards are no longer limited to clinical research studies. We now encourage any pilot/feasibility study in the field of ophthalmology and vision science. MRC / Fight for Sight Clinical Research Training Fellowship– Next deadline 9 January 2020

Applications are being invited for the Fellowship which offers scientific training opportunities to a pre-doctoral or entry level clinician wishing to pursue research to prevent sight loss and treat eye disease. The round is 

open from November 4, 2019.

PhD Studentships – Launch January 2020

PhD studentships offer supervisors up to £100,000 for a three year project addressing research in all fields of ophthalmic and vision research relevant to Fight for Sight's charitable aims. Projects are expected to start in October 2020. We are delighted to announce a new partnership with Versus Arthritis and our continuing partnership with the Masonic Charitable Foundation.
