Professor Alan Stitt

Alan Stitt is the McCauley Chair of Experimental Ophthalmology at Queen’s University Belfast and is Director of Centre for Experimental Medicine (CEM) in School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Science.

He completed his PhD in Cell Biology and following various post-doctoral positions in the UK and USA he was appointed as a lecturer at Queen’s in 1998 before becoming a full professor in 2001.  His main research interests are diabetic retinopathy and microvascular biology with a particular interest in pathogenic mechanisms linked to the complications of diabetes.
