Corporate partnership developed

Fight for Sight is delighted to announced a new partnership with Optegra Eye Health Care, the leading specialist eye hospital group.

Carefully selected by Optegra as its UK corporate charity, Fight for Sight is the main UK charity that funds pioneering eye research into preventing sight loss and treating eye disease.

The charity’s focus on eye research also provides a perfect synergy with Optegra’s not-for-profit research and development division, Optegra Eye Sciences. With Fight for Sight’s 150 plus different research projects into over 100 eye conditions, this was the perfect partnership for the two enterprises.

Optegra has appointed a Charity Committee which will review all the company’s UK charity events and fundraising by individuals and teams and look to match their efforts by up to 50 per cent.

Catherine Woodhead, Director of Fundraising at Fight for Sight said: “We are thrilled that Optegra has selected Fight for Sight as their charity partner for the next two years. Our work together will create many exciting opportunities to help raise the importance of eye health and much needed funds for eye research.”

Commenting on the decision to approach Fight for Sight, Optegra Managing Director, Rory Passmore, says: “We have a number of hospitals and out-reach clinics which are eager to participate in charity work, as well as a commitment within head office. We felt that combining forces and dedicating all our charitable work to one core organisation would be the most effective route.

“We researched carefully to find a charity which shares the same values as our own company; and felt that Fight for Sight was a perfect fit. We are committed to care, passion, trust and expertise and we are both dedicated to educating the UK population about their eye health and wellbeing by encouraging regular eye tests and ongoing eye health care.

“We are extremely pleased to be supporting the wonderful work which Fight for Sight funds, and hope that our partnership can also lead to cutting edge research to help the wider ophthalmic industry and future patients.”

Both organisations are eager to share their knowledge and expertise within the ophthalmic field, whilst raising much-needed funds.

With a number of fundraising activities planned and targets being set, Optegra will kick-start its fundraising efforts by sponsoring the charity’s Feast Your Eyes campaign later this year.

Feast your Eyes will encourage individuals and organisations to challenge their senses by dining in the dark. From cheese and wine, lunch with friends, to a restaurant take over, there are lots of ways to get involved and raise money to help fund a future everyone can see.

Each of Optegra’s Eye Hospitals around the UK will be hosting a large fundraising event in October to support the Feast Your Eyes campaign. They are also launching an internal award scheme to encourage fundraising, with the prize going to the UK hospital which raises the most money at the end of every year.
