Employees tackle ‘Tour De Thea’ for Fight for Sight

On Thursday 27 August, employees from Thea Pharmaceuticals Limited went the extra mile for charity as they completed a 1,000km cycle challenge.

The team, made up of 16 members of the Optometry and Pharmacy sales force and head office staff took part in the ‘Tour De Thea’. The challenge was raising funds for Fight for Sight, the UK’s leading charity that funds pioneering eye research to prevent sight loss and treat eye disease and The Peter Pan Centre, in Newcastle, which provides excellent care and education to children with special needs aged 0-5yrs.

The team cycled the distance of 1,000km, on static bikes at their local gym, the distance represented the journey between the company’s new UK Head Office, at Keele University Science & Business Park, Staffordshire, to the French Headquarters in Claremont Ferrand.

Helen Owens, National Optometry Sales Manager from Thea Pharmaceuticals said: “The challenge was a great opportunity to raise funds for worthy causes. At Thea we’re committed to developing high-quality eye care products, and providing training and education into eye health. Fight for Sight is funding research into over 100 different eye conditions, so we felt it was essential to support this research.”

Catherine Woodhead, Director of Fundraising said: “The funds raised will help to support Fight for Sight’s pioneering eye research and it takes us a step closer to creating a future that everyone can see. Thank you to the Thea Pharmaceuticals team for going that extra mile.”

The challenge also supported the Peter Pan Centre, a local charity which was selected after visiting the centre and seeing the fantastic work they do in the local community.
