Professor Julie Daniels
Julie was awarded her first degree in Microbiology and her PhD in tissue engineering from the University of Leeds, UK. She joined the Institute of Ophthalmology, UCL in 1996. Julie is Professor of Regenerative Medicine and Cellular Therapy.
Her group is investigating the biology and therapeutic potential of stem cells. Specific interests include the basic biology of homeostatic and diseased stem cell niches, anti-scarring therapies and the development and delivery of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (cell therapies and tissue engineering) for blinding eye diseases. She is also the Founding Director of the Cells for Sight Cell Therapy Research Unit, which is currently delivering stem cell therapy to patients with blinding ocular surface disease.
