Fight for Sight is the UK’s leading charity dedicated to funding world-class research into blindness and eye disease.

The charity's current research programme of over £5m is supporting research into a wide range of eye diseases including age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataract, diabetic retinopathy and many inherited conditions.

It's thanks to your help and support that major medical advances have been made possible in this field. However, the fight against eye disease is far from over. Together we can work towards a better future for generations to come.
Every 5 seconds one person in the world will go blind

  • Mr James Bainbridge, eye surgeon, who was involved in the trialMr James Bainbridge, eye surgeon, who was involved in the trialSunday 27 April 2008: UK researchers from the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology and Moorfields Eye Hospital have announced results from the world’s first clinical trial to test a revolutionary gene therapy treatment for a type of inherited blindness.


    Fight for Sight helped fund this research, which represents a landmark for gene therapy technology and could have a significant impact on future treatments for eye disease.


  • 17 supporters completed the 2008 Flora London Marathon for Fight for Sight on Sunday 13 April. Congratulations and thank you all for your great efforts.

    An incredible £35,000 has been pledged so far, all of which will be used to fund more research into blindness and eye disease.
