Eye health company Ocushield has chosen the UK’s leading eye research charity Fight for Sight to be its charity partner.

The company develops products to help filter out the blue light emitted from backlit screens and digital devices and will be donating £1 to the charity from every screen protector sold. Ocushield says that excessive use of backlit screens can cause eye strain and disrupt sleep patterns and so is on a mission to improve eye health.

Michele Acton, Chief Executive of Fight for Sight, said: “We’re delighted to work with Ocushield and we’re really pleased to be chosen as their charity partner – what better time to announce this than during National Eye Health Week. While huge strides are being made to prevent sight loss using pioneering treatments, eye research as an area remains woefully underfunded. Only 1% of public grant funding is currently used for eye research so Ocushield’s support will help us to invest in the latest research to help bring about the next breakthrough.”

Dhruvin Patel, founder of Ocushield, said: "We chose Fight for Sight as our charity partner because we believe in the importance of eye research and because our own mission at Ocushield is to encourage people to look after their eyes. With so many backlit screens and digital devices we put our eyes under far more strain than we ever used to so we’re encouraging people to keep their eyes healthy and to generally feel better.”
