Connect, raise awareness, and inspire regular gifts.

Our door-to-door fundraising campaign is an exciting opportunity to connect directly with people in their communities, raise awareness of sight loss, and inspire support for Fight for Sight through a regular gift by Direct Debit.

Through the opportunity to have meaningful conversations on the doorstep, we hope to share why our work matters and encourage more people to join our mission to save sight and change lives.

With just 1.2% of public investment in medical research going towards eye research, it is vital that we raise both funds and awareness. Every conversation helps us spread the word, support groundbreaking research, and create a better future for everyone living with an vision impairment.

FAQs

  • Why do you use face-to-face fundraisers to raise money for Fight for Sight?

As a charity, Fight for Sight has a responsibility to raise funds as effectively as possible to support pioneering research and brilliant minds working to save sight and stop sight loss. With millions of people affected by sight loss and vision impairment across the UK, it is critical that we create as many opportunities as possible for people to support our work.

Face-to-face fundraising is a vital source of income for the charity and a highly effective way to welcome new supporters into our community. Thousands of people have chosen to support Fight for Sight and, through their regular donations by Direct Debit, helping to fund groundbreaking research, innovative treatments, and the talented researchers striving to stop sight loss and develop new treatments for sight loss and vision impairment.

In addition to the essential funding this method provides, face-to-face fundraising gives us the opportunity to engage directly with people from diverse communities across the UK. It allows us to raise awareness of the impact of sight loss, share the progress being made through research, and demonstrate how public support is helping to drive life-changing breakthroughs for people living with vision impairment.

  • Who are our Fundraisers?

To help us reach more people and raise awareness of our work, Fight for Sight has partnered with Britevox, a specialist face-to-face fundraising agency with experience working alongside charities across the UK. The friendly fundraisers you may meet at your doorstep are part of the Britevox team and are representing Fight for Sight.

They are passionate about helping people learn more about our mission to save sight and change lives, and they can answer any questions you may have about our work and how your support can make a difference. They are enthusiastic individuals and have received training conducted by Fight for Sight. Britevox believes that small conversations can have a big impact. Their teams are trained to create positive, respectful experiences and to build genuine connections with supporters. They work closely with charities to help them reach new audiences and inspire long-term support for important causes.

We are proud to work with Britevox to share the story of Fight for Sight with more people across the UK. Every conversation helps raise awareness of sight loss, the research we fund, and the support we provide to people affected by vision loss. All fundraisers carry official identification and will always be happy to explain who they are and why they are visiting.

  • How do I recognise a Fight for Sight fundraiser?

Our fundraisers will be wearing navy blue tabards with a turquoise Fight for Sight logo on the front. The fundraisers will all carry official identification, identifying them as Fight for Sight fundraisers. They will be happy to show their ID, explain why they are visiting, and answer any questions you may have about Fight for Sight and the campaign.

  • What are my options for donating?

Our fundraisers are only able to help you set up a regular, monthly donation by Direct Debit and should always make this clear when they are speaking with you.

They will not ask for cash and cannot take a one-off donation but will signpost you to the most appropriate place to do so.

You can also contact our friendly Supporter Care team from Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm on 020 7620 2066 or email supportercare@fightforsight.org.uk to find out more information about making a one-off donation.

  • What is Gift Aid and why should I sign up for it?

Gift Aid enables the Charity to reclaim the tax on your donation (provided you are a UK taxpayer) and receive a further 25p from every £1 donated, at no extra cost to you.  A gift of £10.00 per month becomes £12.50 per month with Gift Aid.  All we need from you is a simple declaration saying that you want to use Gift Aid – you may have selected this on the tablet in the Direct Debit section.
