Gemma Owen joins our research team in the lab

Gemma Owen joined us for a visit to a lab researching Stargardt disease.

We were delighted to welcome our Young Ambassador, Gemma Owen, to visit our lab in Moorfield's Eye Hospital, where dedicated research into ways the vision of people with Stargardt disease can be improved, is being carried out.

Sight loss is close to the heart of Gemma and her family (she is the daughter of football legend Michael Owen). Gemma’s brother lives with a rare, degenerative eye condition called Stargardt macular dystrophy (or Stargardt disease). Gemma is passionate about raising awareness of sight loss and the importance of eye health research.

Fight for Sight funds breakthrough research that will transform the lives of people living with or facing sight loss. In a recent video, Gemma shared her thanks to our generous supporters who are helping us save sight and change lives.

If you too would like to show your support, please consider making a donation to help us transform the lives of blind and partially sighted people.
