At Fight for Sight we're committed to people's professional development, and that includes volunteers. Our wide range of volunteer opportunities, from retail to volunteer recruitment, mean that you can choose an opening that best suits the skillset you'd like to develop. At the very beginning of your journey with us you'll have the chance to sit down with your line manager and outline your interests and areas for development. We will then strive to ensure your personal goals are met.

Volunteers are invaluable to how we operate as an organisation, so we want to make sure we look after you! Tea, coffee, and biscuits are always available in our shops, however if you have a favourite snack just let your line manager know and we'll order it in.

In addition to this, shop managers will always ensure there is lunch available on days volunteers are working. This will look different for every shop depending on volunteer preferences, so you'll be able to put your preferences forward in your shop!

We don't want eager volunteers to be held back by the cost of travelling to and from our shops. Whilst getting oriented, talk to your line manager about having your travel costs reimbursed.

Time is valuable and we really appreciate yours. Whether you have one day a week for volunteering, one day a month or simply a one-off day where you can lend a hand, we'd love to have you.

When you sign up to be a regular volunteer we enable you to manage your own availability, ensuring you're never scheduled in for a shift you cannot attend.

For some, volunteering is a step towards paid employment. If that's you, we want to help you out! When applying for a new role, please don't hesitate to reach out to your line manager or our volunteer manager for a reference. We'll be more than happy to talk about the hard work you do for our organisation.

Once an item has been on the shop floor for two weeks or longer, all volunteers are welcome to purchase it for 50% off the listed price.

You'll be able to pick up some fantastic items at at incredible prices, plus you'll be the first to see all the excellent donations we receive.

Volunteering isn't just beneficial to you; it has a ripple effect on the entire community. While some may claim local high streets are dying, it's important - now more than ever - that people have somewhere to shop for affordable, sustainable essentials. Charity shops also have the added bonus of supporting a great cause.
