Fight for Sight's charity shop on Upper Richmond Road West is a friendly place to volunteer and get involved with the East Sheen community. Help out in our lovely, well-stocked shop to learn new skills, boost your CV and meet new people.

Why volunteer in East Sheen?

Being a Fight for Sight volunteer puts you in the mix within the East Sheen community. Volunteers at our East Sheen shop help out with all sorts of tasks, from using the till to merchandising, processing donations and of course styling the window. At our friendly shop we'll help you to make the most of your existing skills, at the same time as picking up new skills for your CV.

Our East Sheen team includes people of all backgrounds and different ages. Some of our volunteers help out at the shop to meet and mix with new people, some are keen to build their CVs and get a reference for paid employment. Whatever your reason for volunteering, you'll get a warm welcome at East Sheen.

  • Give your CV boost

    As well as being sociable and a feel-good thing to do, volunteering at our Upper Richmond Road West shop is fantastic for giving your CV standout or getting you on the right path if you've just graduated from school or college. The training opportunities we offer in our East Sheen shop will impress prospective employers and we offer references to our volunteers too. Our volunteering roles enable people to:

    • Learn to process donations (invaluable to charity retail)
    • Build customer service skills and experience
    • Train to use an EPOS system; till training is an incredibly transferable skill for people wanting to work in any retail capacity.
    • Understand Gift Aid, which an increasing number of charities are signed up to.
    • Train on safeguarding, which is really valuable for understanding how organisations look after each other.
    • Benefit from online training in subjects like IT, retail and management skills, which we’re offering as part of our volunteering roles.

Our East Sheen team are a social lot, and the volunteers who work for our shops (we have 14 shops across London) love that being in our charity shops helps them to:

Duke of Edinburgh volunteers welcome!

We love hosting young people for the volunteering section of their Duke of Edinburgh Award at our East Sheen shop. Volunteering at a Fight for Sight charity shop like this one on Upper Richmond Street West will help young people to:

If you're looking to volunteer as part of a Duke of Edinburgh award or for school-related work-experience, you can volunteer with us from the age of 14 (outside those channels the minimum age for volunteers is 16).
