From the lab to the high street, from marathon routes to fashion shoots — 2025 was a year of energy, breakthroughs, and real-world impact. Here’s what we achieved together, and how you can keep the momentum going
We launched the UK Vision Research Network (UKVRN) — a new era of collaboration
In April 2025 we launched a UK-wide collaboration fund that unites some of our brightest vision scientists around a shared mission. The programme is designed to overcome fragmentation in research, accelerate progress and leverage interdisciplinary expertise, giving us the best chance to tackle the most challenging causes of sight loss and bring treatments within reach faster than ever before.

Fashion met purpose — with stylists, influencers and the Ealing Trailfinders
For our Ealing Fashion Drop we harnessed 8 tonnes of donated new-with-tags stock to put change in sight for people living with vision loss. We also collaborated with influencers like Anna from @the_secondhandqueen and Hannah from @thriftedthreds to stylists like Sarah from @SourcedStudio, our shops made sustainability stylish.
Even the Ealing Trailfinders rugby team joined the movement — modelling donated designer gear and helping raise thousands for research and transformative local services.

Lived experience led the way at Vis-Ability 2025
This year, we hosted our second Vis-Ability event in 2025. The annual event convenes people with lived experience of vision loss, allies, industry and political influencers. Together, we debated key issues facing our community.
In 2025, we focussed on the potential of AI to create equal opportunities, notably in employment. It was hosted at Parliament by our vice president Marsha de Cordova MP and our CEO Keith Valentine at Westminster.
We were delighted to welcome Marsha alongside Meta and BeMyEyes who showcased the power of collaboration through their Ray-Ban glasses.

We shared science through stories - from the lab to your feed
Our Fight for Sight Presents webinars opened the lab doors to everyone. We brought leading experts together to translate breakthroughs, from gene therapy to glaucoma, into clear, optimistic stories about the future of vision science.
These conversations do more than share research. They show the transformational real-world impact that research has on people’s lives: whether it’s getting earlier diagnosis, prevention of sight loss or protection from the isolation and inequality that vision loss can bring.

Every step counted: our fundraisers made miles matter
At the 2025 London Marathon, 32 incredible runners raised over £63,000 for sight-saving science - each one running for someone they love, or for a future where no one loses their sight.
From bake sales to skydives to mountain climbs to carol singing, our supporters proved that small steps make lasting change.
2026 sign ups for challenge events and more are already open and underway so why not take on your own challenge for sight and: fundraise with us.
We look forward with confidence and care
Because 2025 proved something powerful: when science, style, and community unite, sight loss doesn’t stand a chance. Together, we’re building a future where everyone can see what’s possible.
Leave a legacy that brings sight-saving breakthroughs closer: give in your will
