Corporate Team Building Days in our charity shops
Planning a corporate away day or team building event? Then you'll want something inclusive, engaging and memorable — but also meaningful. Good news! Our charity shops aren’t just raising funds to Save Sight. Change Lives. They’re now raising morale amongst teams too...
From escape rooms to go karting and bridge-building challenges; many corporate team building days follow familiar formats. They can be fun, but once the trophies are handed out and everyone’s back at their desks, do you really have anything to show for it beyond a few photos and inside jokes?
A Fight for Sight corporate team building day is different.
Hosted in our lively charity shops across London, these experiences combine corporate volunteering, friendly competition, and genuine social impact — all while supporting our mission to Save Sight. Change Lives.
Below we’ll answer the key questions you might have if you’re planning a team away day, including what makes them different at Fight for Sight, how the competitive element works and how they can be part of your ESG and CSR initiatives.
What actually happens on the day?
Your team steps behind the scenes of one of our vibrant, community-focused charity shops and becomes part of the action. Our corporate volunteering days are designed to help your team:
ENGAGE
Gain behind-the-scenes insight into the day-to-day workings of a successful charity shop — and the vital role it plays in the local community.
UPSKILL
Learn practical new skills including:
- Processing and pricing donations
- Visual merchandising and mannequin styling
- Spotting high-value or collectible ‘sleeper’ items for our eBay shop
ENJOY

IMPACT
See, in real time, how your efforts increase shop profits and strengthen the work our charity funds.
How does the competitive element work?
Because the impact of the day is so real, competition feels meaningful rather than manufactured. Teams or departments can be challenged against each other in a variety of fun, engaging ways, including:
- Who can boost the shop’s profits the most?
- Who can process and price the highest number of donations?
- Who can style the best mannequin or window display?
- Who can identify the most valuable or collectible ‘sleeper’ items for our eBay shop?
- Who can curate the shop playlist that gets customers browsing — and buying?
- Who can bring in the most donations to be sold in the shop on the day?
These challenges spark creativity, collaboration and problem-solving — all while reinforcing teamwork and shared purpose. Previous participants have really got stuck into a few of these challenges, its incredible how being there in the shop gets people’s blood up!
Where do the team building days take place?
We have 14 Fight for Sight charity shops across London, each with its own character and loyal community of shoppers and volunteers.
Our locations include:
- Fashion-forward and iconic Portobello Road
- Designer-fuelled Kensington
- Super-chic, boutique-feeling Ealing
These are charity shops that are rewriting old clichés. Forget fusty and outdated — our shops are stylish, contemporary and welcoming, proving charity retail can be both and commercially bold.
What makes a Fight for Sight team building day different from traditional corporate away days?
Unlike many team-building activities that simply simulate challenge, ours are rooted in the real world.
So, instead of escaping a locked room or racing around a track, your team:
- Works side by side in one of our real charity shops across London
- Creates measurable financial impact in a single day
- Raises vital funds for life-changing research into vision loss
The results are tangible, because the donations you process are sold, the displays you style attract customers and the profits you generate directly fund incredible things. This is a bold alternative to conventional corporate away days, and one that brings people together around a shared purpose.
Can the experience be tailored to our team?
Yes — flexibility is one of our biggest strengths. We can adapt the day to suit:
- Different team sizes
- Accessibility requirements
- Timeframes and schedules
- Specific objectives such as wellbeing, collaboration, leadership or ESG goals
- Location - we have 14 shops across London
No two teams are the same, and we’re proud to offer an experience that reflects that.
What if I’ve never organised a corporate team building day before?
We’ve got you covered.
We make the process simple and stress-free, especially for people organising a corporate away day for the first time. Our experienced team will guide you through every step, from choosing the right shop (we have 14 across London) and shaping the agenda, to tailoring activities around your team’s goals.
We work together with you to make sure everything runs smoothly — so you can focus on enjoying the day and seeing your team thrive.
What is corporate volunteering?
Corporate volunteering is a win-win for a company, employees and the charity they partner with; employees are encouraged to offer time and skills to help the charity - Fight for Sight in this case - often during paid work hours. Sometimes referred to as Employer-Supporter Volunteering, Corporate Volunteering is usually part of a company's CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) strategy and comes with the added bonus of boosting engagement, teamwork and skill development of employees and the company's reputation too.
Why is this ideal for corporate volunteering and ESG initiatives?
If your organisation is investing in corporate volunteering, CSR or ESG, this is a powerful way to turn values into action.
Your team will:
- Support vital eye research
- Raise funds that directly change lives
- Strengthen connections with each other and the local community
- Leave a visible, lasting legacy
It’s corporate team building that’s bold, meaningful and rooted in working together.
Have other organisations taken part?
Yes — and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
We’ve worked with a wide range of organisations, from a team of Kensington Hoteliers to the construction company Turner & Townsend, and participants regularly tell us how refreshing it is to take part in a corporate team building event that feels purposeful, inclusive and genuinely rewarding.
We also have testimonials from people who’ve loved the energy, creativity and impact of their day with us, so please do ask when you enquire.
