Dine in the dark and support eye research

Fight for Sight is calling on the public to dine and donate this October as the charity launches its new fundraising initiative Feast your Eyes.

The event, running from the 16 - 22 October, is asking people to join the fight for sight and host a dinner in the dark. From cheese and wine, to lunch with friends or a dinner party – it’s an opportunity to challenge your senses and help fund research to create a future everyone can see.

This latest challenge will replace the annual Carrots NightWalk and the charity hopes that previous walkers will swap their walking boots for a knife and fork. The night-walk was launched in 2011 and has collectively raised over £480k to support eye research. Fight for Sight is hoping that Feast your Eyes will prove just as successful and needs your support.

Whether you’re an eye health professional, researcher, someone with first-hand experience of sight loss, have a loved-one with a condition or want to do the activity with your work colleagues – please join the Fight for Sight and sign up today.

The event will be sponsored by Optegra Eye Health Care, the leading eye specialist group, and also has the support of other eye charities. The unique partnership with Birdshot Uveitis Society will raise £15k through the Fight for Sight Small Grant Awards scheme.

Catherine Woodhead, Director of Fundraising at Fight for Sight, said: “We’re excited to add this latest fundraising initiative to the Fight for Sight portfolio and we would encourage everyone to take part and help raise vital funds for pioneering eye research.

“We’re looking for diners and charity partners to join the fight against sight loss and work in collaboration with us, in order to fund much needed research into a number of different eye conditions.”
