After your eyes being bigger than your belly over the festive period – it appears that most of the nation are dieting in January!

Therefore you will need something to look forward to in February, so why not enjoy a fabulous dinner cooked by Masterchef winner Steven Edwards at his pop up restaurant?

Steven won the 2013 series of MasterChef: The Professionals judged by Michel Roux Jr, Monica Galetti and Gregg Wallace, becoming one of the youngest ever winners, aged 26. He will be cooking up a storm on Thursday 4 February as he hosts an exclusive culinary and sensory experience for Fight for Sight, the UK’s main eye research charity.

The six courses will showcase Steven’s talent and diners will get to experience one course blindfolded to heighten their taste buds and show how sight can have an impact on the plate. The event will take place at Printworks Kitchen, Clerkenwell, London.

Steven said: “Whilst dining in the dark may be a new experience for some diners it will allow them to concentrate and use other senses.

“When I tried blind tasting I was quite shocked at the effect it had because you do really need to focus on your tastes buds, you taste food a lot slower, rather than just diving in and eating it as fast as you can… it emphasises the flavours.

“As part of my food philosophy I tend to experiment with different texture and tastes, the second course is salmon and apple, which sounds pretty normal but I will be serving it with a twist – so I’m hoping that’s going to be a little bit different and something that the diner may not be expecting on the plate.

“Creating dishes it’s all about the flavour, to use more humbling ingredients but then to pair it off with something unexpected gives it a completely different taste. So when I was approached to do this event and I knew one of the dishes would be blindfolded, I was really excited by the prospect of giving a dish and getting the diners to interact with it.”

“I usually serve six courses at the company I own Etch Food, traditionally you have three – starter, main and dessert – it’s basically cutting these dishes in half, so we’re able to give you twice as much and you’ll get a better dining experience.”
