For microvolunteering day, we have provided a list of 7 simple ways you can support us. We've merged with Vision Foundation uniting two bold missions in one dynamic new organisation. Together, we'll combine breakthrough research and life-changing services to build a better world for blind and partially sighted people. There are now more ways than ever to volunteer with us.

Do you want to volunteer but have limited time? Together, Fight for Sight and Vision Foundation have many ways you can support us through volunteering.

We value everyone who supports us and know small acts can make a big difference.

The research we fund can unlock breakthroughs and transform lives so that more people avoid preventable sight loss and others will regain their sight.

Fundraisers help us to create a world where everyone can see. Some take on more significant challenges, such as the London Marathon of the London Landmarks Half, and we’re so grateful to the people who do.

However, you don’t need to be a marathon runner to support us.

For microvolunteering day 2023, we’ve listed seven simple ways to support us.

  1. Become a cheerleader

You might not be ready to tackle a half marathon or marathon, but we’re always looking for supporters to help us to cheer on those who are.

Please email us at events@fightforsight.org.uk and let us know if you’d like to be added to our cheerleader list.

  1. Amplify our messages

Sight loss is a significant public health issue of our time, affecting more than 2.5 million people. But it needs to get more attention and investment.

For example:

  • Just over 1.5 per cent of the £1.4 billion that UK Research and Innovation, government and other public bodies invested in medical research (2018) was for eye research.
  • That’s just £9.60 for each person affected by sight loss in the UK.

We know sight loss significantly impacts individuals, and we are working to raise awareness of the need for research, fund researchers, and advocate for change.

Sharing our messages as we post on social media channels is a small way to help us that could make a huge difference. Please follow us:

  1. Share your story with us

It can be tough to talk about personal stories of sight loss. Yet, sharing your story can inspire others living with sight loss and encourage others to donate and fundraise for us. We treat each story with sensitivity and respect, and there’s no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with.
