Isleworth Runner hosts fundraising event

Local Isleworth fundraiser takes on second consecutive London Marathon to help raise vital funds for the UK's main eye research charity Fight for Sight.

Steve Fanning, 36, will be going the distance for the charity, on Sunday 24 April, in memory of Mary Lloyd, who lost her sight due to age-related macular degeneration. Steve is urging his local community to support him and help him reach his fundraising goal of £2,000.

Steve, a former striker for Isleworth FC and a fine art specialist, for Staff Solutions Ltd, has been fitting in his tough training schedule around early starts and is determined to cross the finish line in four hours.

Another passion of Steve’s is djing and he will be hosting a fundraising event on Friday 11 March from 7.00pm, at The Milford Arms, London Road. As well as spinning the tunes he has organised a raffle containing some iconic prizes including; signed football memorabilia, gaming equipment and donations from local companies.

Steve said: "Having witnessed a loved one slowly lose their sight and seeing the devastating impact it had on Mary’s life - I wanted to support Fight for Sight again and would love if everyone could dig deep and help me raise vital funds to support eye research, so everyone has a future they can see."

Steve has previously gone the extra mile for the charity and has also completed two Royal Park London Half Marathons, in 2014 and 2015, raising thousands for vital eye research.
