This year we celebrate our 50th anniversary. It’s a chance to celebrate all we’ve achieved together and it’s an opportunity to look forward at what more must be done if we are to achieve our vision of a future everyone can see.

Since 1965 we’ve seen significant developments in stem cell and gene therapy research, treatments using lasers and new drugs, corneal transplantation and the advancement of surgical techniques. Science, medicine and technology are rapidly coming together to bring us closer to preventing, treating and, ultimately, reversing sight loss. The pace of change has never been so quick.

It is only through continued investment in medical research that we can take advantage of these developments and help make sight loss a thing of the past.

In order to take us forward and reflect the progress that is being made in medical research we have decided to update our overall look and logo. We wanted to better represent our belief in the importance of science and technology and the role we play as the national eye research charity in the UK.

We have also re-built our website so it embodies our new look and to make our information easier to find and understand. We constantly seek to improve the way our information is delivered and to keep people up to speed with the latest developments in eye research.
