Encouraging the public to dine in the dark for eye research

Celebrity TV chef and food writer, Anjum Anand, shows her support as she joins the fight against sight loss.

Anjum is supporting the UK’s leading eye research charity, Fight for Sight, and encouraging the public to sign up to the charity’s new fundraising initiative Feast your Eyes.

The event, running from the 16 - 22 October, is calling on people to host an event in the dark. From cheese and wine, to lunch with friends or a dinner party – it’s an opportunity to challenge your senses and help fund eye research to create a future everyone can see.

Anjum has offered one of her recipes, pistachio cakes with orange syrup and dates, taken from her book ‘Anjum’s Indian Vegetarian Feast’, published by Quadrille.

Catherine Woodhead, Director of Fundraising at Fight for Sight, said: “Thanks to Anjum for supporting Feast your Eyes – we are excited about our new event. It’s a fun activity that people can do with friends, family or work colleagues. It’s also raising the importance of eye research and the need for more funding, so that Fight for Sight is able to continue to fund pioneering eye research and put a stop to sight loss.”

The event is sponsored by Optegra Eye Health Care, the leading eye specialist group, and also has the support of other eye charities. The unique partnership with Birdshot Uveitis Society will raise £15k through the Fight for Sight Small Grant Awards scheme.
